Ferrari 126 C2 turbo scale 1/8 from Promocom Toys of italy |
Materials: The
materials used correspond to the real vehicle: monocoque and many other parts are CNC-milled
aluminum, fairings and underbody made of real carbon fiber, rims turned from alloy, tires vulcanized
from real rubber, hundreds of photoetched parts in brass, nickel silver or stainless steel
complement the whole. Simply incredible! The only non-metal parts (apart from the real carbon-coverings)
are the drivers seat and the fiberglass-laminated brake air scoops. White metal, bronze and
brass castings in highest quality, almost without any burrs or mold lines. The only disadvantage
(apart from price): The real carbon fiber fairing parts require some trimming along engraved
lines.
Versions: Each
of the total 6 versions was officially Ferrari-licensed, limited to 200 copies and individually
numbered. The various versions differ in the design of front and rear wings, labels or engine
details. So the "Long Beach" version for example comes with a wonderful, split rear
wing. Here is a list of the individual versions:

Assembly: The
assembly is mainly via bolt connections, the chassis is composed by two vertically divided
CNC milled aluminum pieces. Minor soldering work required in some steps. Undertray and linings
are laminated in carbon fiber and have to be trimmed along engraved lines. The wings, shock
absorbers, exhaust and many small articles are polished, milled and/or turned aliminium parts!
Naturally also the decals belong to the finest category, printed by a leading supplier as water
sliding items! Enormous detail and historical correctness.
Packing and instructions:
The packing of the parts is remarkable:
The designers created a really useful way - all parts are packed corresponding to the building
steps! So you are not forced to search for a long time, in order to find the individual components.
Just take the bag for the appropriate building step, in which (excluded the photoetched parts
and some screws) all necessary pieces are. Together with the correct photoetched plate (likewise
for the appropriate building step) the allocation is such a children's game. The 96-page building instructions
are constantly in color, printed in 5 languages in high quality: English, Italian, Spanish,
German and French.
Conclusion: Absolute
High end product for the commited model maker, with superbly used materials, design and quality.
Naturally nothing for beginners. If you are looking for a really unique kit, you will be right
with this kit. Unfortunately very high price.
